* Nicaragua’s 92-member unicameral legislature has authorised US energy firm New Fortress Energy to construct a natural gas-fired power plant with a capacity of approximately 300 megawatts near the coastal town of Puerto Sandino, León department, to supply power to Nicaragua’s electricity distribution companies. The construction of the plant is in line with a 25-year power purchase agreement that New Fortress Energy announced in February with Nicaraguan gas utility companies Distribuidora De Electricidad del Sur and Distribuidora de Electricidad del Norte.
