PARAGUAY: Abdo Benítez appoints new finance minister
Paraguay’s President Mario Abdo Benítez swore-in a new finance minister, Óscar Llamosas, on 2 November. Llamosas had been serving as deputy minister under the previous incumbent, Benigno López, who resigned last week. Llamosas said that his principal priorities would be pushing the 2021 budget through congress and overseeing the revival of an economy expected to contract this year, albeit nothing like as heavily as many other countries in the region, as a result of the impact of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
