MEXICO: Divisions grow between López Obrador and governors

Mexico’s President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has accused the Alianza Federalista (AF) grouping of opposition governors, which has been demanding a more equitable distribution of public funds between federal and state governments, of disrespecting him. He says this is why he continues to refuse to meet them to discuss their demands, including the call for more resources to be allocated to state governments in the 2021 draft national budget. The spat continues to fuel a growing rift that could have major political consequences should the two sides dig in their heels.
