* Fincimex, a financial company owned by the Cuban military, has announced that US money transfer firm, Western Union (WU), which is the primary handler of remittances sent to Cuba from abroad, will close its Cuba operations on 23 November. The announcement follows
new sanctions announced last month by the US government that prevent WU from working with Fincimex. On its Facebook page, Fincimex also confirmed the closure of WU’s 407 agencies in Cuba. WU has also tweeted that it has informed
