Antonio Brufau, the CEO of Spanish oil company Repsol, has told the country’s stock market commission (CNMV) that the company has no plans to abandon its activities in Venezuela. Repsol is one of the few companies that has continued to do business with Venezuela despite the imposition of international economic sanctions on the country’s oil sector. Elliott Abrams warned Repsol and a handful of other companies to
“tread carefully”, adding that
“if the sanctions change, we will talk to Repsol”. Brufau noted that a modification of US policy
“could affect” its stance, but insisted that
“Repsol continues to adopt the necessary measures to maintain its activities in Venezuela, with full respect for international sanctions”.End of preview - This article contains approximately 121 words.
