COLOMBIA | Economy reeling. Colombia’s economy contracted by 9% in the third quarter of the year and dipped into a technical recession for the first time in more than two decades, according to the national statistics institute (Dane). The GDP slump was only to be expected given the serious economic impact of restrictions imposed to try and contain the spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, and it is a problem shared by countries across the region and beyond.
