* Brazil’s agriculture and foreign ministries have celebrated reaching an agreement with Germany’s state development bank (KfW), whereby the latter will donate up to €25.5m (US$30.36m) to foster sustainable agriculture initiatives in the Amazon. The funds will be directed to a programme entitled ‘Innovation in the Agricultural and Livestock Production Chain for the Forest Conservation of the Legal Amazon’, which aims to develop and strengthen sustainable practices in the production of soya, meat and timber in Brazil’s Amazon states.
