In brief: Colombia’s tax take recovering rapidly

* Colombia’s national tax authority (Dian) has reported that tax take was up 1.5% year-on-year in November, totalling Col$14.9trn (US$4.3bn). This represents a welcome recovery after the economic impact of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic saw tax take reduced significantly earlier in the year, as unemployment surged and domestic consumption declined. However, Dian nonetheless recorded a 7.8% contraction in total tax take over the first 11 months of 2020, down to Col$136.4tn.
