In brief: Chile unveils social housing plan
* Chile’s President Sebastián Piñera has unveiled a US$2.6bn plan to build 61,000 homes in 2021, through 344 construction projects. He added that the housing ministry would have the biggest budget in its history in 2021, with an increase of 20% on the previous year, although did not give absolute figures. Piñera also said that the government plans to hand out 286,000 housing subsidies, to benefit 857,000 people.
