In brief: Chile’s central bank improves 2021 GDP growth projections

* Chile’s central bank (BCCh) has released its January survey of economic expectations (EEE), according to which GDP is forecast to grow 5% in 2021. This is an improvement on previous forecasts, with the November 2020 EEE projecting 4.5% growth, a figure which had been revised upwards to 4.7% in the December EEE. The latest projection by the economists surveyed by the EEE is in line with that of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (Eclac), which forecasts 5% growth in 2021 following a GDP contraction of 6% in 2020.
