In brief: Mexico’s private sector improves GDP forecast

* Mexico’s central bank (Banxico) has released its latest monthly survey of private sector economists and analysts, whose predictions for GDP growth in Mexico this year have improved compared with December 2020. Analysts now predict an average 3.74% growth in 2021, up from previous forecasts of an average 3.54% GDP growth. According to the survey, Mexico’s economy contracted by 8.67% in 2020, amid the economic crisis caused by the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
