MEXICO: Redrawing security cooperation, relations with the US

Mexico’s President Andrés Manual López Obrador has always said he wanted to develop a new type of relationship with the US, one that was based on mutual respect and in which both countries work together as equals. Recent events have provided a better idea of what López Obrador means by this. His vision appears to be very different to what the US and some in Mexico see as the best way for the bilateral relationship to operate, particularly when it comes to security cooperation.
