VENEZUELA: Guaidó faces growing threat

Responding to the announcement by the national assembly (AN) of plans to prosecute him on charges including corruption, the usurpation of public functions, and treason, Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaidó noted that the government-led legislature “knows very well where to find me”. Guaidó has long faced such threats, but has thus far avoided arrest by virtue of his international prestige, shielding him from the kind of retaliation faced by other opponents of Nicolás Maduro’s government.
