MEXICO: Refusing to deviate from collision course

Mexico’s President Andrés Manuel López Obrador does not shy away from political confrontation. He has shown that he is prepared to face off with anyone that tries to stop him from advancing his political agenda, and overcome any obstacles to it. López Obrador has signalled that this is the case with his controversial plans to reform Mexico’s electricity industry [WR-21-05]. However, this puts him on a collision course not just with Mexico’s business sector, but potentially also with the US.
