In brief: Costa Rica ranks first in LAC in Unctad’s E-commerce index

* The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (Unctad) has released its Business-to-Consumer E-commerce Index 2020 which showed Costa Rica became the best performer in the Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) region, replacing Chile. The latest index, which ranks 152 countries on their readiness to engage in online commerce, shows Costa Rica ranks 56 out of 152 countries, up from 62 in 2019, and ahead of Chile which ranked 59, up from 61 in 2019. As regards the rest of Central America, Panama ranked 87, up from 90 in 2019; Honduras ranked 98, down from 96; El Salvador ranked 106, down from 105; Guatemala ranked 108, up from 113; and Nicaragua ranked 122, up from 124.
