EL SALVADOR: Bukele officials hint at legislative priorities

With President Nayib Bukele set to enjoy unprecedented control of the national assembly following the victory of his Nuevas Ideas party in the 28 February legislative vote [WR-21-09], speculation has emerged as to what may feature on the legislative agenda once the new deputies take up their seats in May. While figures like the presidential commissioner, Carolina Recinos, and the finance minister, Alejandro Zelaya, have provided clues, questions have arisen as to how these plans will be financed.
