In brief: Argentina’s latest inflation figures put gov’t target further out of reach

* Argentina’s national statistics institute (Indec) has released the latest figures for the consumer price index (IPC), which show that monthly inflation totalled 3.6% in February. This is down from 4% monthly inflation in January, but brings annual inflation to 40.7%, up from 38.5% a month earlier. Private sector analysts expect inflation to close the year at around 50%, but the government led by President Alberto Fernández has maintained its forecast of 29% inflation, which for now appears to be unrealistically optimistic.
