* Brazil’s central bank (BCB) has released the latest figures for the monthly index of economic activity (IBC-Br), according to which economic activity grew 1.04% in January, compared with December 2020. In year-on-year terms, the January IBC-Br saw a -0.46% variation, while in the 12 months to January, the IBC-Br fell by 4.04%. Brazil’s GDP contracted 4.1% last year as a result of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, and is expected to recover with a 3.23% rebound this year according to the BCB’s latest
