MEXICO | Ploughing ahead with energy counter reform. President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has shown his determination to push ahead with plans to roll back the reforms introduced over the years to liberalise Mexico’s energy sector and bring it back under tight state control. On 26 March López Obrador announced that he had sent congress a draft bill that seeks to reform the Ley de Hidrocarburos, which governs the country’s oil sector.
