* The mayor of Mexico City (CDMX),
Claudia Sheinbaum, has said in a press conference that she had been in touch with the construction companies that built the CDMX Línea 12 (L12) metro line,
which collapsed last month, regarding plans to hold a series of technical meetings. Sheinbaum said that the construction firms which built the line- Carso Infraestructura y Construccion (Cicsa), a company owned by Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim, Mexico’s Grupo ICA, and the Mexican unit of France’s Alstom- should
“participate in the rehabilitation in economic terms” but did not give further details. Sheinbaum's comments follow the release last week of
the preliminary findings of a report which found that the collapse of the line was due to a structural failure.
