BRAZIL | Stage is set for Eletrobras privatisation. Brazil’s federal congress approved a presidential decree on 21 June, which lays out the conditions for the privatisation of the state-controlled energy company, Eletrobras. The decree was presented by President Jair Bolsonaro in February; it allows his government to move forward with one of the key sales in its privatisation programme, which has been stuttering.
