COSTA RICA | IMF deal approved. Costa Rica’s legislative assembly approved a US$1.78bn credit agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on 1 July. Legislators voted by 38-6 in favour of the IMF deal. President Carlos Alvarado took to social media to thank deputies for the “firm and necessary step…which will permit the advancement of the fiscal consolidation agenda, which will provide an indispensable foundation for economic recovery”.
