PARAGUAY: Pressure over insecurity in the north builds once more

Confirmation that the man believed to have been abducted in northern Paraguay by an insurgent armed group [WR-21-26] has been killed, is again putting the government led by President Mario Abdo Benítez under pressure to neutralise the rebels and reinforce public security in the north once and for all. This is an issue that has plagued successive governments and has the potential to produce public discontent and a political crisis for the government.
