*Brazil’s national statistics institute (Igbe) has published the latest figures for the consumer price index (IPCA), reporting monthly inflation of 0.53% in June – marking a decline from the
25-year high of 0.83% posted the previous month. Accumulated inflation in the 12 months to June stands at 8.35%. Monthly inflation in June was principally driven by price increases in housing (up 1.10%), food and drink (0.43%), and transport (0.41%). The only category measured by the Ibge that recorded a drop in prices was communications (-0.21%).
