BRAZIL | Frosts affect coffee crops, send prices soaring. Brazil’s federal agricultural ministry (Mapa) announced on 23 July that it will provide support to the coffee producers whose crops have been affected by unusually cold weather. Agriculture Minister Tereza Cristina da Costa Dias travelled to meet coffee farmers last week after frosts hit the coffee-producing state of Minas Gerais on 20 July, with temperatures falling below zero degrees Celsius.
