Axel Kicillof, and provincial finance minister,
Pablo López, have announced that the provincial government had obtained support from bondholders to restructure around 98% of its US$7.15bn debt, bringing it a step closer to emerging from a 16-month default. According to López the agreement will save the province US$4.6bn between now and 2027, money that can be applied to infrastructure and social spending. Last month the
provincial government announced it had struck a deal with bondholders to restructure the debt.
