Haiti’s prime minister, Ariel Henry, has been forced on the defensive after Port-au-Prince chief prosecutor Bed-Ford Claude called for him to be charged in relation to the 7 July assassination of president Jovenel Moïse (2017-2021). Claude has since been fired and Henry has subsequently sought to dispel these claims which some link to a power struggle between a group linked to Henry and Moïse allies (which include Claude), particularly after Henry struck a deal with other opposition groups to forge a unity government.
