In brief: International tourism picks up in Mexico

* Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has released new figures which show that 2.77m international tourists entered Mexico in August, up 105.7% on the 1.35m who visited in August 2020, but fewer than the 3.57m registered in August 2019 before the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic disrupted travel and tourism. The same figures show that in August 2021 revenue from international tourism totalled US$1.8bn, up from US$506.6m in August 2020 but less than US$1.9bn in August 2019.
