In brief: Brazil’s government cuts growth forecast

* The secretariat of economic policy (SPE) in Brazil’s economy ministry has released its latest macro-fiscal bulletin, in which it has revised economic forecasts for the country, now predicting lower growth and higher inflation. The government now expects Brazil’s GDP to grow 5.1% this year, down from earlier forecasts of 5.3%, and for growth to slow to 2.1% in 2022. Inflation, meanwhile, is forecast to close this year at 9.7%, up from previous projections of 7.9%.
