BRAZIL: Change looms in the courts

After being stalled for months, André Mendonça’s nomination to Brazil’s supreme court (STF) was finally approved by the senate on 1 December. At the same time, other changes in the judiciary could be forthcoming, with a reform on bringing down the compulsory retirement age for judges recently deemed admissible by the constitution and justice committee (CCJ) in the chamber of deputies.
