*Mexico’s foreign minister
Marcelo Ebrard has met with France’s minister for Europe and foreign affairs,
Jean-Yves Le Drian to discuss trade between Mexico and the European Union (EU), among other things. Le Drian stated his intention to accelerate the ratification of the modernised EU-Mexico economic partnership, political coordination and cooperation agreement, also referred to as the EU-Mexico global agreement, as France will hold the rotating presidency of the EU Council in the first half of 2022. Negotiations on the modernisation of the trade agreement concluded in 2020, after four years of talks, but it has yet to be ratified and signed.
