In brief: Chilean peso dives following Boric victory

* Chile’s peso has plunged to 2020 lows and stock markets slumped following the victory by Gabriel Boric of the left-wing Apruebo Dignidad coalition in the 19 December presidential second-round run-off. Chile’s peso fell 3.6% to $875.21 per US$1 while Chile’s benchmark stock index closed 6.2% lower, after losing as much as 7.5%, as reported by Bloomberg news agency.
