Lacalle Pou moves to protect Uruguay’s pulp industry

Uruguay’s President Luis Alberto Lacalle Pou has issued his first veto since taking office in March 2020, after one of the parties within his ruling multi-colour coalition sided with the left-wing opposition Frente Amplio (FA) to approve a forestry reform designed to impose restrictions on the booming cellulose industry and boost the agricultural industry.
