In brief: Exports rebound in Bolivia

* The Instituto Boliviano de Comercio Exterior (IBCE), a Bolivian private sector lobby, has announced that exports totalled US$9.9bn between January and November 2021, marking a 62% increase on the same period in 2020. The IBCE, which based its findings on official figures from the national statistics institute (INE), stated that the export value was “the highest in seven years”. The volume of exports also increased by 7% year-on-year, with the discrepancy between volume and value attributed to “the notable increase in international mineral prices.” According to the IBCE, mining accounted for 54% of export value, amounting to US$5.3bn (+101% year-on-year). This was followed by non-traditional exports, which accounted for 25% of exports and totalled US$2.5bn (+54% year-on-year); and hydrocarbons, which accounted for 22% of export value at US$2.1bn (+14%).
