Franklin Molina, has released figures on the energy sector’s performance in 2021, highlighting its recovery from the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. Molina said that over US$391m had been invested in oil exploration and extraction in 2021, which he said had caused oil revenue to rise to US$1.77bn – up from US$1.65bn in 2020. Meanwhile, natural gas production increased to 45.6m cubic metres per day, up from 43.4m cubic metres per day in 2020, with Molina highlighting a 19.8% year-on-year increase in gas sales to Argentina and Brazil, which amounted to US$2.24bn (up from US$1.87bn the previous year).
