BRAZIL: Warnings of setbacks to democracy
Two separate reports recently released by international NGOs warn of the erosion of democracy in Brazil, where a general election is due this October. The World Report 2022 by Human Rights Watch (HRW) and the 2021 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) by Transparency International (TI) were both published in January, presenting a global overview of the state of human rights on the one hand, and of efforts to combat corruption on the other.
