PARAGUAY: Protesters march on palace over insecurity

Hundreds of people gathered outside Paraguay’s presidential palace Mburuvicha Róga on 5 February to demand justice for the murdered model and popular social media ‘influencer’, Cristina ‘Vita’ Aranda. The case has heaped pressure on the government led by President Mario Abdo Benítez to take more action to combat organised crime and improve public security. It has also added fuel to the fire of infighting between rival factions within the ruling Asociación Nacional Republicana-Partido Colorado (ANR-PC).
