REGION: UN urges different responses to wildfires
The United Nations (UN) has repeatedly warned that extreme weather events, which are already increasing in frequency and intensity, will only continue to do so under the impact of climate change. More specifically, the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) recently issued a report outlining the expected increase in wildfires over the course of the century. This should sound the alarm for the countries of the Southern Cone, which have been battling fierce blazes this year.
