CHILE: Militarisation of south to end

Chile’s incoming government will enact a major change in security policy after President-elect Gabriel Boric takes office on 11 March. Boric’s designated interior minister, Izkia Siches, confirmed on 25 February that the state of exception prevailing in four provinces in southern Chile, which has been in place since last October, would be lifted.
