MEXICO: Key debate over electricity reform underway

Legislators representing the ruling left-wing Movimiento Regeneración Nacional (Morena) and its allies began talks this week with opposition lawmakers to try and overcome serious differences over the electricity reform that the government led by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador is determined to advance to benefit the state-owned electricity firm Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE) at the expense of private renewable energy companies.
