MEXICO | Combating inflation. President Andrés Manuel López Obrador unveiled an anti-inflation plan during his morning press conference on 27 April. López Obrador said that his government had negotiated with producers, distributors, and big department stores to standardise the cost of 24 products in the basic basket of goods, such as beans, maize, milk, and rice, across the country to ensure “fair prices”, rather than impose “price controls”. Full details, he said, would be divulged next week.
