Drug cartels cast a shadow over Mexican crypto

At least four trends are at work in the Mexican crypto and fintech environment. These are, first, a strongly conservative approach by the monetary authorities to adopting a crypto-currency as legal tender; second, and despite this, a lively a political debate on adoption; third, a willingness to experiment with various fintech and crypto-linked payment schemes; and finally, in fourth place, concern over the use of crypto by the country's powerful drug smuggling cartels.
