MEXICO: Cuban medical assistance prompts pushback

When Mexico’s President Andrés Manuel López Obrador visited Cuba on 8 May as part of a regional tour [WR-22-19], he was full of praise for Cuba’s President Miguel Díaz-Canel and keen to stress the strength of bilateral relations. During his visit, the two countries signed an agreement to expand cooperation in public health, details of which have sparked controversy back in Mexico.
