In brief: Unemployment falls in Brazil

* Brazil’s national statistics institute (Ibge) has released the latest employment figures, revealing an unemployment rate of 10.5% in the rolling quarter ending in April. This was down 0.7 percentage points on the previous rolling quarter ending in February, and down 4.3 percentage points on the same period in 2021. Ibge noted that unemployment was at its lowest level for the February-April rolling quarter since 2015, when it stood at 8.1%. Underemployment also fell, standing at 22.50% - down 1.4 percentage points on the previous rolling quarter, and down 7.1 percentage points year-on-year.
