HONDURAS: Killing by security forces reignites familiar concerns

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Honduras has expressed concern about the recent killing in Honduras of a suspected gang member, Wilson Pérez, by the national anti-gang force (FNAMP). Pérez’s killing, and the furore surrounding it, has highlighted a key priority facing the new leftist Libertad y Refundación (Libre) government led by President Xiomara Castro – addressing violence by the security forces and demilitarising security.
