In brief: Colombia posts strong industrial production growth

* Colombia’s national statistics department (Dane) has released the latest figures on industrial production, which increased by 9.1% in April compared to the same month in 2021. Dane’s figures showed the industrial sector continuing its strong recovery from the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, with production in April standing 7.0% higher than the pre-pandemic figures of April 2019. The growth was mainly driven by industrial manufacturing, which increased by 13.5% year-on-year. Meanwhile, the provision of electricity and gas increased by 5.6%, while the capture, treatment, and distribution of water increased by 3.6%. Mineral exploitation fell by 1.3%.
