MEXICO: Employment shows partial pandemic recovery
On 23 May, Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) published its latest quarterly figures on employment based on its national employment survey (Enoe), which showed that in the first quarter of 2022, the economically active population (EAP) totalled 58.1m people, equivalent to 58.7% of the population aged 15 and above. Although an increase on the same period of the previous year, this remains below the level recorded in the first quarter of 2020, before the start of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, when the EAP was 59.9% of the population of 15 and above.
