* The US oil and gas firm APA Corporation has announced that its joint venture with France’s Total Energies SE has made an oil discovery off the coast of Suriname. The discovery was made while drilling at the Dikkop exploration well, located in the central offshore Block 58. Within Block 58, APA Corporation and Total Energies SE each hold a 50% stake. According to APA Corporation, the flow test data (a tool used to estimate the total amount of oil in a reservoir) indicates a presence of 180m barrels. The joint venture operation is expected to continue its exploration of the central portion of Block 58, in search of further discoveries. Block 58 is adjacent to Guyana’s prolific Stabroek Block where US oil giant ExxonMobil has made significant discoveries.
