In brief: Brazil’s Petrobras looking to sell another three refineries

* Brazil’s state-controlled oil company, Petrobras, has announced that it has resumed the process of selling three refineries as part of its asset selloff plan. The planned sale of the three refineries – Refinaria Abreu e Lima (Pernambuco state), Presidente Getúlio Vargas (Paraná), and Alberto Pasqualini (Rio Grande do Sul) – follows the sale in November 2021 of the Landulpho Alves facility in Bahia state. Petrobras has previously announced its intention to sell eight of its 13 refineries, and is currently awaiting regulatory approval to complete the sale of two others – Lubrificantes e Derivados do Nordeste (Ceará) and Unidade de Industrialização do Xisto (Paraná). According to a Petrobras statement, the eight refineries that the company is seeking to sell have a combined refining capacity of 1.1m barrels per day. In 2019, the company launched a plan to sell eight of its 13 refineries.
