*Argentina’s national statistics institute (Indec) has published new figures which show external debt totalled US$274.4bn as of the end of the first quarter of 2022. According to the report, this represents an increase of US$6.48bn on the previous quarter and an increase of US$4.72bn in annual terms. Indec attributes this rise to an increase in the debt of government, non-financial corporations and households and, to a lesser extent, an increase in the value of the debts of deposit-taking corporations, Argentina’s central bank (BCRA) and other financial corporations.
